If the condition of the record(s) is not as expected, please contact us so that we can look into a solution. Any additional cost for returning a record(s) is of the responsibility of the buyer. In addition, proof is required in the form of pictures or sound samples. We will check every record before we ship it out. If we receive the record in a worse condition than we shipped, we will not provide a refund.
Unfortunately we cannot provide sound samples. Pictures will be provided for expensive records over a certain amount. This will be mentioned in the comments section.
In general we keep the universal goldmine standard for grading. See our scale below.
New records are simply considered new. We buy them from the distributor(s) and label(s). Unfortunately we cannot open/test play every new records because then they are not considered new anymore!
Some new records are sealed, some are not. This is out of our control. Please contact the label directly to see if they can provide a replacement if you are not satisfied.
Regarding Japanese reissues. Many are dead stock copies. Meaning, they are very limited in quantity, and have or will not been reissued again for years.
Used records are graded carefully based on years of experience in the vinyl record industry. Of course we are human. And as humans we make mistakes. We are always open for a solution if you are not satisfied.
NIPPON GROOVE RECORDS GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT (M):
New condition, never played, directly from the factory, either sealed or not sealed.
NEAR MINT (NM)
Near mint condition, almost new, played maybe 1 or 2 times for testing purpose. Shrink is either opened or removed.
VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+):
Very good plus, has been played multiple times, might have light groove wear, no skips, might have some light background noise, but does not overshadow the overall sound quality. Still shiny.
VERY GOOD (VG):
Very Good. Played a lot, more groove wear, either light soft scratches, but no skips, significant more background noise. Wax will be less shiny.
GOOD (G):
Good condition is generally not considered good, as contradicted as it sounds. Will have a lot more visible groove wear, background noise, either full of hairlines and or, light to mid-heavy scratches. In addition, possible light skips might overshadow the overall quality of the sound. Buyers responsibility.
BAD (F):
At this grading, the record has become almost unplayable. Will have many scratches, mostly deep, as well as skips that will interfere with the overall sound quality. Buyers responsibility.
VERY BAD (F-):
Unplayable. Records sold at this grading, which we probably don't offer. Are more for special rare records that collectors simply want to have, but knowing it is almost impossible to find they will settle for this grade. Buyers responsibility.
SLEEVE ONLY (SL):
When a certain record is gone and only the sleeve is available. Great if you want to replace and upgrade a sleeve of a record.
RECORD ONLY (R):
Only the record is available. Comes in standard sleeve.
